While we were learning and playing, a few weeks passed and I was craving for camps but there Chin Heng said, “You need to pass your Tenderfoot Badge“. Lol, nifty greenhorn badge, it was just a cinch and I attended the investiture ceremony, got the chance to wear scarves…
Some few weeks later, a King Scout from the district told us we were following the wrong track and said we weren’t learning things we were supposed to learn. The “chief” then argued with him about something and there came someone else’s name, Wai Hoe, who allegedly haven’t been attending Saturday meetings for that past one or two years. But in the end, that guy from the district still managed to tell us how our headmaster (Mr. Loo) wished that some King Scouts will pop out from MBS (coz its like 11 years since they had one?). So guy-from-district continued about how grand it is to be a King Scout and the story of Baden Powell. After that, everyone got out from that tiny troop room and recruits were given the password “Impeesa“…something that never sleeps, I reckon.
From that day on, I (don’t know bout the others) was more interested in scouting……..but what was the price?
Some four weeks later (a month, I know), Mr. Chief spoiled the fun and told everyone that he was going to quit from 10th KL. Geez, lotsa politics and all that. Some former scouts even came back, and Wai Hoe too! Guess it was an AGM (and I can’t believe it took me 5 years to figure out it was INDEED an AGM!)
So everyone stood in the horseshoe and each scouter were given turns to scold or insult that poor guy Wai Hoe, gave him pumps and all that. Then, some schnooky scouters said 10th KL’s target was not to produce King Scouts but to train someone into a useful person. “What use is a scout if his PMR or SPM results are bad? Even some of the King Scouts sell meat and they’re hawkers!” Now I know why the term “hot-blooded” and “nincompoop“exists….more or less..
At last, after all that commotion and name-calling, someone actually did announce the annual dinner at MBSOBA. Then, every single clown in that horseshoe quitted from the scouts, leaving the poor recruits behind, with Wai Hoe, poor guy. Since then, every other uniform group looked down on us…….
..until Saturday, a “knight” came by the name of Gary, I suppose he was that guy-from-the-district (sorry, but no offense here, just style of writing, real sorry). He formed us into four small groups called patrols, namely Swift, Gannet, Falcon and Eagle……….and we played the air scout game (with its starboard and port) and rope games.
Later on, some guy became my PL and another became my PS. Eversince, I took tests from them and the new Scoutmaster, Adrian Yeo “invested” me and I got my license to wear a scarf…I didn’t pass the test earlier, a plain mistake…Nevertheless, I’m proud of the scarf I’m wearing because I passed the test to become one of 10th KL! But then, I started learning about “Usaha” knots…kinda restless then….
On and on, patrol meetings every week……………..and on and on….and so on…..
All these…….in Form One, 2002………and I forgot which meeting was it when Seong Bin brought some cards to play at one particular meeting…..please, can anyone remember?

That price was paid in friendship, reputation and insults received by one guy on behalf of you all and generations of scouts to come. Many doesn’t understand the reasons he did what he did till this very day. But someone did. Look at the link below.

If this guy hadn’t took the effort to change things, things would still be the same as the olden times. You wouldn’t be who you are today. At least someone believed in change and took the first step and made a sacrifice. Do you think you could make such sacrifices? Anyway all I know that is left of this guy is that he is now successful in his education. I lost contact with him 2 years ago. Do drop a comment on my blog if you know there is any way to contact him.
The meeting when Seong Bin brought cards was when you guys play with the aeroplane cards which was bought by either gary or seong bin. This is as much as I remember.

Was there all along but instead I was taking badges with some other scouts. Attended several camps with a large group of scouts from sri petaling. Then next with some st john scouts. I am still active then. Just you guy’s didn’t notice. I paid a high price attending those badge taking courses but Peraga supported and intervened when the old guys took action against me.
