hii i’m weiliam but usually call as ebboz in the troop (i also donno since when i had a name like that) anyway is been already five years, no already eight years including those primary schooling days i’m in scouting enviroment . I’m glad that i am still survive untill now haha.  So hardly to believe har , after so many training i had during my first day of joining the tenth bukit bintang air scout in mbs.

i still remember that my first day of joining the 10th kl is on the friday itself during the recruitment drive way before kenneth wong fat kong take over as the TL (troop leader) of the troop. It was during the afternoon at 1.00pm, i walk to the back of the school as been told during morning announcement by the prefects that all scout gather after school at the back of the school to prepare something blablabla …….

then when i reach there and i say i wanted to join the scout a senior scout walk towards me and straighly write down my name in a book and then he quickly teach me the knoting ,lashing and alot of thing on the spot then he call me to help other scout on building up the bakau structure. But actually i donno wat ever thing i learn from them .

i still remember that i was still under a patrol leader name seong bin . aiya he such a bold guy i ever met during that days. after that event i keep on practicing my knot untill one moment i was known as the best scout in knotting. During that time i was so good at knot and lashing .

But all this is the pass that exist in my memory. I hope there will be second me in the scout troop next time. From this scout trainning i had i notice that is allot of changging in me. From my notice for today and my advice is (to be a great player is a very easy thing , but to be a great leader is 10 more time much harder that the great player)

it had been quite a long time since i leave 10th KL and MBS….may be not as long as some of you out there…..

i graduated from MBS on year 2004 (hihi…3 years ago =P)…was with 10th KL when i was first in form 1…..when i was in form 3..the condition in the group goes worse, and there was many problem between the boys and school administrator..Mr Loo Wan Yong was the principle at that time…then during my form 4 days, things got a little turning….Law Wai Hoe introduce us to Mr Gary Lee, and thats the start when all our wonderful old scouts came into the picture of this young scouts….from there i get to know Mr Heng Yuen, Mr Kwai Chong, Mr Yeu Kun and the others (did i spell your name rightly?sorry if i dont..i dont know the exact spelling actually…)

10th Kl just got better after that..with the support from the old boys, as well as support from the school…

oh…i just lost my lines…*sigh*…..actually i had finished typing…but my internet connection got disconnected and i had to retype from my last auto draft…and now i lost my trent of though…..perhaps next time then….haha

The sign went up first, taken from the porch of the Wesley Church

16th September 2006. The back hoe went in and dug, dug, dug. That’s Kwai Choong and Yew Kuen grinning.

9th October 2006, the concrete base has been laid and the ground floor under construction

17th October, the ground floor pillars go up

27th October, the first foor is up. Progress was slow as the end of year exams were on for the forms 3, 5 and upper 6. The contractor was required to stop work during the exams so as to allow students to concentrate on the papers during the exam.

20th November The roof beams are in place

28th November 2006, walls go up on the first floor.

19th December 2006, the roof trusses are up. That’s Charlie Ng on the 1st floor.
All wiring conduits are in, wiring completion is delayed as some lau hei person is yet to put in computer network Cat 5 cabling.

How time flies, and so many events. End of school year has come and gone, a new batch of scouts, patrol leaders will take on the new year.

I’ve been travelling and work has bogged me down on my return to mundane routine. Still that’s no excuse not to update this blog and report on progress of the Group Den. More on that later.

2006 year end camp for the boys was in Janda Baik. I could not be back on time to join them. Kwai Choong, Yew Kuen, Chee Wah went with the boys accompanied by Ms Raguna and Mr. Lee.

Ms Raguna will commence her new assignment in Bukit Mertajam for school year 2007. We will miss her, but glad that she will be with her loved family up north. The boys gave Ms Raguna a fond farewell and a camp bed to remember them by everytime she lies on the bed. Good luck in your new post, Ms Raguna.

It’s the wet season at the end of the year, the camp experienced only short periods of no rain, still the boys enjoyed themselves.

The photographs of the boys are different from my time only in that they are in colour and in digital format. Otherwise the same cheeky faces are there.

10th KL boasts of existence from 1915. That means we have scouts who range from age from current boys to really old codgers.

There was a question as to who maintains this blog. Four (4) persons. Starting from the youngest : – Khoo Chong Ming, Kenneth Wong, Freddie Tiang and Wan Heng Yuen. Go yell at them for any errors and/or ommissions. Not too loud though, we need these young flers with their knowledge of IT to keep this blog going.

In the meantime, a one time mail shot has gone out to MBSKL alumni. There were more than 740 email addresses many of these may not be 10thKL. 35 tendang balik because there were no longer valid. What was surprsing was that lots more got kicked out because the email originated directly from a TMNet IP address. Apparently, the dynamic IP addresses by TMNet has been blacklisted by Spamhaus and other spam blocks and did not reach MBS alumni.

There would not be further attempts to reach out to MBS alumni other than this attempt.

Response is Encouraging

There has been 7 responses to that single mail shot from some long lost brother scouts, four of them no longer in Malaysia.

None so far. That’s still encouraging. Meanwhile, one old Falcon in Kuala Lumpur queitly slipped in a cheque for RM1,000.00 and another Eagle on a visit from NZ, also did the same, also with RM1,000.00. That NZ chap gave RM1,000.00 on his last trip home for a total contribution of RM2,000.00. Thanks flers.

In embarking on buidling a permanent home for 10th KL, we have had help from many quarters. The board at the construction site shows the names of all the professionals involved. The architect and consultant engineer are both 10th KL boys.

There will be no bills from these two.

The contractor who won the bid by open tender to construct the den, Zimara Sdn Bhd is managed by another 10th KL boy. Flexible terms of payment has meant no mobilisation fee, he has requested that cost of building material be met on time to keep his suppliers’ confidence and the continued flow of more materials.

The balance of his fees is to be paid on a “payable when able” basis.

With the hefty increase in petrol prices after the contract was awarded, Zimara was asked whether they would need an opportunity to review the contract price. The company has assured that they will aborb the increased costs.

The ultimate owners of the property has also been very accomodating, the Methodist Church owns the property and they want to be assured that the plans be properly approved and that all contractors must have their bills satisfied.

10th KL has so many people to be grateful to, we now need to be grateful to you, our older brother scouts, the parents of scouts, then and now as well as our many friends who have 10th KL at heart.

The contract cost is about RM140,000. Furniture and fittings will push this figure a few notches up. The buiding fund stands at about RM50,000 at the moment. It appears that we are about RM100,000 short.

It’s the job of Building Committee Chairman KT Leong and Group Council Chairman Liu Kwai Choong to rais the balance for the building fund.

Six months after the ground breaking ceremony, the construction of the 10th KL Group Den has started. The successful tenderer based on the lowest price, fastest delivery and very flexible payment terms was selected from 4 sealed bids received.

If you had visited the school on 16th September 2006, the hoadings were already up and construction material delivered to site.
